A column is any part of the body that is one solid object like a wrist, ankle, arm, leg, torso, etc. This is a quick and easy way to tie rope to the body. Two wraps of the rope is usually a perfect amount to spread out pressure so that it doesn’t dig in and makes it very easy to match the tension of the wraps. If you did more wraps, the tension could easily get off and the person would only feel the tightest wrap. One thing to be careful with is that if a lot of tension is applied to the rope coming off of it, the knot could collapse and that danger is increased with synthetic rope.
